Five Vampire Movies That Rock! Some Eighty odd years ago the first recognized vampire movie was released- it was known as 'Nosferatu' and it still stands up today as one of the creepiest movies ever produced! It is actually an adaptation of the classic Bram Stoke novel 'Dracula'. Ever since the first film was released, we have seen many more introduced into the film industry. It's a very obvious parody of the Twilight movie series, and it does a really fantastic job of 'sending up' these types of film which, let's be honest, can take themselves a little seriously! (I still adore them though as you will see!) The film was directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, guys who were also in charge of the Scary Movie series of films. When you watch this film you will see a definite similarity to their other projects! There is no way that you will take this film seriously, however it's not designed to be- It's simply a fun-filled, laughter-packed 90 minutes of film making.) 4. 'Van Helsing' Van Helsing is a rip-roaring vampire adventure picture that ticks all the Hollywood blockbuster 'boxes'. Van Helsing is a popular monster hunter. This film tells the tale of how Van Helsing is sent to Transylvania to prevent ‘Count Dracula’ employing Dr. Frankenstein’s research and a werewolf for a sinister objective. It’s an astounding film to watch on your Halloween movie night! This movie provides some luscious ‘eye-candy’ for the ladies as Van Helsing is played by the handsome Hugh Jackman! 3. 'Twilight' Women's Kensington Parka With this particular film I have found it is a bit like Marmite, you either really like it or you detest it! I absolutely fell in love with this film as it involves a blend of romance and drama. The film centers around the story of a young girl who falls in love with a vampire, subsequently risking everything for her love. Twilight was formerly a novel written by Stephanie Meyer along with New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn which were all also made into ‘must-see’ movies. Undoubtedly the film's target market is the teenage sector. If you happen to watch one of the Twilight films in a cinema no doubt you will hear hysterical shrieks and other such noises coming from the teenage contingent! I understand this film gets a lot of negative press, and a great deal of 'haters', but I love it- so there! 2. Interview with the Vampire One of the best vampire movies of all time, hence the reason it has nabbed the 'number 2' spot! The director, Neil Jordan, released this film in 1994 casting (more eye-candy), Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Antonio Baderas, yum! It tells the strange story of a human being (louis) who gets attacked and bitten by a vampire, and then becomes undead himself- it relates his unfolding tale as he struggles against his new found immortality. 1. 'Blade' Finally, my number one favourite vampire film of all time is Blade! Blade was directed by Stephen Norrington and released in 1998. It’s brimming with drama, horror and a lot of blood! This is more of a ‘sit on the edge of your seat’ or ‘hide behind the duvet’ film. It tells a tale of a half-vampire, half-mortal person (played by the popular Wesley Snipes) who becomes a protector of the mortal race against evil vampires! It is such a shame that we don't see old Wesley in many movies anymore, because he was a righteous dude in this flick! Halloween isn't very far away now, and it's really important to select your costume before you run out of time! Vampire Costumes are very popular and hugely inspired by vampire related films. You have the more human vampire approach from twilight, for which you would just have to add some scary contact lenses and a pair of authentic looking fangs. Alternatively, you could go for something more traditional, more in the mold of Count Dracula.
